Jason knew something was wrong the moment the guard ran past his cell. Guards around Blackgate don’t normally run past the solitary cells, as it lead deeper into the jail. So Jason had to get up to investigate. When he reached the door, he could hear the guard screaming about something, but couldn’t make it out. Then he saw the person. Or more specifically, child. He watched the little girl stalk towards the guard, and watched slightly amused as the man screamed and fainted. The girl turned her head towards him as he snorted, and he noticed the eyes. He cursed as he slunk away from the door and moved towards the hidden MP3 player he had. He turned up the music and drowned out the screams of the guards and other inmates.
“Out of all the mystical creatures to invade Blackgate, why’d it have to be vampires?” He shook his head and made himself comfortable on his bed. Let the others run around like maniacs, he was going to sit here and read his damn book. If the little vampire chick came to eat him? So be it.
Two hours passed before his cell door was thrown open, the small girl he had seen early stood in the door way and Jason just tilted his head towards her. She didn’t speak, just stared at him.
“Well? Kill me already.” The girl smirked a bit and stepped into the room. Jason didn’t move as she ran a hand through his hair. It had grown out to his shoulders, and the red dye was now just on the tips. She continued to pet him but didn’t do anything else.
“I’m not going to kill you. Actually, I’m setting you free.” She pulled the book from his hand and stared at it for a moment. “I didn’t think you were into the teen vampire novels.”
“Twilight’s an alright book.” Jason shifted on the bed so he could sit up and could actually see the girl. She couldn’t be any older than Damian. But he knew better. She was still a vampire, and she wanted something.
“Full of lies. We don’t sparkle.” She smirked as she stepped into the sunlight. There wasn’t any sparkle, but her eyes did glow a bright red that made Jason shiver. She was powerful for someone so young looking. “Now, leave here. We’re burning this place to the ground and I don’t need you to be here for that.” With that she stalked out of the room. He jumped up and ran after her.
“You never told me your name.” The girl turned, gave him a smirk full of fangs.
“Jane.” Jason’s heart stopped as he blinked at the girl. Watching her turn and disappear into the darkness. He stood there for several minutes until the blaze started down the hall. He cursed, turned and ran for the nearest exit.
“Fucking vampires!”
