What purpose is this experiment meant to serve? Just showing off? Really? Demonstrating control through removing proper mental control? Cute, Malnosso. Very cute. It's not as if I--NO. NO. *****

[And then it switches to this. Yes, the Master is purposefully and rather angrily thinking in Gallifreyan. Which...well...YES the Doctor will be able to ( Read more... )

The experiment's probably not because of what happened so much as that it did happen.

The experiment's the result of a Shift. What it does probably more relevant than what we do once it happens.

Why?

Because they've said so before; also think objectively; what's the point in learning about what socially happens to someone when you've got their entire history on file?

~Don't you dare--~ Yes, actually, I am thinking objectively. An individual's history only says so much. How many people here do you think have been forced to deal with having their thoughts revealed before?

[...Heh] So you believe that who is selected is important for who they are?

Define "who they are".

Personality. As individuals. As people. [A pause and then-] that is to say you as whatever you name is and now you as your cellular or spiritual or whatever structure.

Not in a fluffy, individuality sort of way. I expect life experiences and personality-types did factor in somewhat, though. It's only natural, when experimenting. Especially if it's a social experiment in any way.

Yeah, I guess. Seems like a jump to assume it's a social experiment in any fashion thought, sorta. [To be fair, he's basing his information/theories on things Rem or John has said... and only half of that pie is the least bit trustworthy]

I'm open to interpretations. Have you found anything that decisively says it isn't?

Yeah. [...] But the word's shaky, so it's potentially invalid.

Of course.

Bearing that in mind, we've heard from Rem, John, and to a lesser extent in the past Jacob that the purpose of the experimentation here is less based on who people are here and more based on something particular about the people here. Ergo, the social factor isn't a large concern on their part.
