Despite Jon and Dan and the annoying drunk dude who was trying to tell me about his metal-core band called "Popstar Massacre" that doesn't even have a legitimate myspace, I had such an awesome time on Friday night. It was incredible.
Bourbon Street is a really nice bar. The stage was in the back and when I arrived some of the opening bands had already gone on. Thank god because honestly besides The Absence, the only band that didn't suck was Kalakai, and I really like Kalakai. I walked around for a bit. Bought a two shirts at the Merch stand and talked to the guys who were working there for a while. Went back by the stage and Kalakai were playing and they just had so much fucking enthuiasm for a band that was playing in the back of a bar, it was great. Somewhere after the drunk guy came up to me and I went for the walk, I ran into Jon and Dan. Both were fucking stoned and I didnt really want to deal with them for the rest of the night so I just went off and did my own thing again. James showed up while Fatal was playing and Fatal was fucking horrible because the lead singer had just cut his hair so he looked like carrot-top. Without the lead singers really crunchy vocals, yes I used the word "crunchy" the band would have been perfect. They could even do ONLY instrumentals and I would like them better.
After they left I went into the girls bathroom and noticed the guys hadn't taken down all the flyers for the show that night, so I stole that one thinking that maybe since the guy at the Merch stand thought I was pretty awesome for buying two teeshirts, that he could help me get my flyer signed. I didnt have to. When James showed up, he wanted to go to the merch stand, he bought a shirt, and while he was going out to his car, I asked the guy about the flyer that was the same as mine that was already signed and sitting on the table. He said I could have it. God was I freaking happy! I wish all concerts were like that. Really.
