Another post from Greenville.

Happy birthday, Heavenly!!!

As Heavenly and her mom sit downstairs at the kitchen table downstairs discussing possible developments in our future, and Heavenly's dad sleeps in the other room, I am on the familiar computer of the Hammons' little upstairs den at 101 Duquesne Drive. The computer I am using as I type this is the same one I established this livejournal at; the same one I used for all the posts before October last year. I brought the little red CD that I moved all the files from this computer onto just before I left here, which wouldn't work on another computer for some reason.

I've just fixed that, and figured out what was wrong. Apparently the program that writes CDs on this computer asks you if you want to leave the CD as is, or change it so that it can be read on any computer. I guess I just scanned quickely through this window's text and hit "leave as is" when I should have chosen the option to make it readable on any computer. Well, I have now done so, and it should be fine now.

The Japanese fairy tale I've been writing in Greenville was on that disc - and I just re-read what I had so far, and it sounds very good. I'm very happy about that. I don't have to start from scratch, and now maybe I can work on it a lot more, instead of concentrating on the other story. Especially now that I have a lot more of the plot worked out. Also on that CD was some cool music, and a lot of the broken layout of The Wahlburg Foundation, my mini review webzine, which was lost when I switched domains from eorlingas.net. So I hope to have that back up shortly after we return to Charleston.

It's good to be in Greenville again. Or Greer, really. Greer is to Greenville as Kettering was to Dayton, or James Island is to Charleston. Greer is where this house is located, but I always called it Greenville for simplicity's sake. Greenville is peaceful and rural, and there's not much traffic, or at least not from Charleston standards. And the houses are acutally affordable. You don't have to be rich to afford something more than a ghetto shack here. We've been thinking a lot, Heavenly and I, and, while I don't think we're going to move here any time soon, we've also admitted the possibility that we might not want to be in Charleston in the long term. So that's something for us to think about.

Adult Swim is on in five minutes. Haven't seen a single minute of it since I left this house.

I think work is closed on Monday, so that's nice. Good to have a three day weekend. Remind me to call my mom on Monday, and email my brother.

Oh, and here's a free download of "Looking at the World..." by Mike Doughty. Further proof that, whatever you might think about their clothing, A&F has good taste in music.
