Jordan finally came, after I was induced. She was 9 pounds, even, and 21 inches long. She is a beautiful, healthy little girl.
Being a new mom is certainly life changing. Jordan is up every 3 hours for food. She is a very good baby, though. She doesn't cry too much, as long as I can figure out what's wrong fast enough. "Feed me, change me, burp me, hold me" is pretty much her doctrine. Having her home for the first night was scary. It was a learning experience for us both. She eventually learned that when I took her into the baby room (she's sleeping in our room for now), she was going to get a diaper change and would stop crying (if that's what she needed) even before I started changing her! I was also learning her cues so I could feed her before she started crying about it. Anyway, she kept me up until 5am that first night, feeding, off and on constantly because she had to get my milk to come in. The next night was more of the same because then I was engorged so she had trouble latching. (TMI...sorry) The third night was a sinch! She got on her 3 hour schedule (12:00, 3:00, 6:00, 9:00) and we both were able to sleep 2 hours at a time through the night.
It's been that way since then pretty much, despite some intestinal issues. I hate those because she looks so uncomfortable and there's not much I can do about it. The first week was really tough on me because I was taking everything on myself. I broke down one night to Paul, who had been working and doing everything for me and keeping the house straight, now does everything he can to help me out with her too, including late night changing and comforting.
Healing has been rough and frustrating. Our house is a split level with stairs to 3 levels and I was told not to overdo stairs when I left the hospital. So I've stayed upstairs for the most part, only making trips down and up for food and company. Today, at the 2 week mark, it seems I am healing quite nicely. I just wish it could be over faster because there's so much I want to do while I'm home and not working. Plus I want to get back in shape! My stomach is ruined and I'll never wear a two-piece again, but I can at least look thin and sculpted in a one-piece. Our pool will help get me there. I can't wait to be able to get in there and bring Jordan in with me.
