A few things to look forward to:
- Mock The Week series 13 (series 13!!) starts next Thursday - featuring Ed Byrne (yay!) but also Katherine Ryan (boo). Katherine Ryan, when are you going to stop ruining programmes I like? She's also in the new series of Badults, which is putting me off watching it. Back in February, the BBC put a ban on all-male panels on comedy shows. Mock The Week has always been one of the worst offenders for excluding women (see Jo Brand's
article on the subject) and as a woman and a feminist I obviously think it'd be great to have more women comedians on panel shows - but not if this means Katherine Ryan every week. (A quick glance at wikipedia says Sara Pascoe will be on episode 2, so yay for funny women!)
- '48:13', the new Kasabian album - next Monday. I know music snobs say that Kasabian is the very worst of 'indie lad-rock', but I quite like them (although their last album 'Velociraptor' was rubbish of the highest order). Their new stuff is sounding good, though - the minute I heard the start of '
eez-eh', I was like 'Is that Kasabian!? Is Kasabian back?!'. It's instantly catchy.
- Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled - this is a new programme made by Dave, billed as a 'comedy chat show'. It sounds pretty fun, and not just because I have a soft spot for Alan Davies. I've only seen a short trailer, but as far as I can tell it's going to be basically just Alan plus some comedian guests sitting round a table having a chat. Starts Monday June 16th.
