Notes: This book is so obviously written for children, so clumsily obvious about the supposed "hints" that well... it ruins its own climaxes again and again. Comments: 106.000w. I read two thirds of this and got bored, well, I got bored before that but I had liked the concepts in the first book so much that I kept reading. Too many plot threads, too many (uninteresting) characters, and even the ones that could be interesting end up with so little screen time that they never manage ( Read more... )

Notes: I'm so fed up with this book, I read about it in David Pringle's 100 best fantasy novels years ago, read and re-read the review with fascination and it's so dense and descriptive and has such uninteresting characters I can't believe any child ever finished it, much less enjoyed it.
