I'm going to England.
Well, all right, I'm going to France first. And I'm leaving in four days! This is the last Sunday that I'll spend at home with my parents until next summer. I'm somewhat sad about that. I'll miss my parents - I always do, once I leave. I'll miss getting hugs, I'll miss having someone come in to say goodnight every night. I'll miss home-cooked meals and teasing and celebrating holidays together. I'll miss my cat, too, and even Mom's dog. I'll miss my books, my pillow, my blankets, my blue walls, the views from my windows, my altar, the clothes I'm leaving here, the CDs I'm not bringing, the DVDs I'm leaving on the shelf. I'll miss home. It's even harder to leave since I know that I'll come back, rest for a month or two, and be back at school for another year... And then leave. But now I'm getting ahead of myself.
I'm also absolutely PSYCHED!!! This Friday I'll see JH again for the first time in (exactly) a year. It's been very difficult in between, and I hope that things go well... But I'm really, really looking forward to a hug at the airport. I'll spend three weeks in Beauvais, getting to know him again and getting to know the new town that he lives in. I'm looking forward to seeing his lovely family again, as well - and to eating his grandmother's food! :D
On the 30th it's off to London... I'll take the Eurostar to St. Pancras, find my way to Paddington, hop a Reading-bound train, and then flag a cab for Whiteknights, which is to be my home for a school year. How exciting! Normally I would be sharing my room, but I'll arrive and make myself comfortable in a room all my own... Megan, my roommate, is going to join me in January. I'll miss her, but I do admit that it's always nice to have a room to oneself. From there it's time to begin our classes, The World in Britain (a history and culture course) and our intensive courses (there are three; I'm in the one on Climate Change)! I'm looking forward to getting to be better friends and work out the dynamics with all the people in the houses... and getting to know the Doctors Ivy better as well!
At the moment, however, I'm going to go downstairs and enjoy one of my last dinners with my family for quite a while... I'll update soon.
Love,
Rissa
