Update!
Okay so it's a short one because we're going to do activities soon -- which I think might entail a game of capture the flag (I hope it's something active, I'm really hyper for no reason).
Class today was interesting, we went over the stories that a few people wrote yesterday. I was kinda disappointed that we didn't get to go over mine in the group, but I'm hoping that people will come up to me and tell me what they had to think about the little short that I wrote. I guess it just depresses me that I spent so much time on the piece and now I doubt if anyone's read it...
Oh well, I think it's pretty good and it's not like I'm going to use it for anything in the future (most likely); it was just an exercise.
I'm not bored with the food yet, though according to a girl who did this last year I will be bored soon. I hope not -- at the moment it's pretty nice to have so many choices. And it's better than the frozen food I'd be eating if I was at home.
Apparently there's an ice cream social later tonight that I may or may not go to -- depends on my level of tired. Pretty soon, though, we get to start choosing which activities we want to do and we get to sign up for different sports, trips to Palo Alto, trips to the mall, etc. It sounds really fun.
I'm looking forward to getting into more writing discussion, but at least I'm getting to know the people better than I did. I've got friends both in my class and out, though I still don't know anyone who's not in Creative Writing. But that's what activities are for, and when we start choosing our own I'm sure I'll meet more people.
Possibly the most annoying thing about being here is the sheer size of the campus. It's a long walk to anywhere interesting. Also, it gets darker here later. The only time we have to ourselves is between 6:30 and 10:00 at night, but it's dark at about 7:30-8:00 so I don't feel comfortable enough to be out and about.
There are six showers for at least twenty girls, which doens't seem to be as much of a problem as I originally thought it might be. However, there are only two washers & driers for the whole residence. Doing my laundry is really the only thing left that I'm dreading.
Well, I think I'm gonna go do something mildly interesting now, like find a TA and ask why we're not playing capture the flag or at least doing something yet. Talk to you guys all later, and maybe once I figure out where I can mail cards I'll send you stuff. Hope your summers are all going well!
