Musecon photos

Here are pics of all of the things I made at Musecon this past weekend (not counting my tribbles, and the just-barely-started card weaving thing). I've put everything behind cuts so as not to overwhelm anyone's friends page. They are in the order in which I made them, except that I made the second chain-mail pendant later.

I can't get a good picture of this, but it's a Celtic knot carved into a stick of soft wood (pine, maybe?):

The carved part is about 5" long.

These two pendants are about 1" across, made of 30 tiny rings each, in two colors. They have jump rings to hang them on a ribbon or chain.

Again, I had trouble getting good pictures of this, because the flash bounces off the metal rings.

2"x2" stained glass diamond:

This was the free stained glass piece, which I used to practice on. It was the first time I ever used a soldering iron.

These two blinkies are both about 3.5" across:

The atom has three color-change lights that blink in succession. The Orion has a lot of blue lights that can be steady (as in this picture) or blink in a variety of patterns. Both of them have on/off switches.

The atom has a post-pin, which I put through the wrong way three times running. Okay, two and a half; the third time I caught it before I had soldered it into place.

The Orion has a pin back also. But they are both kind of heavy to wear as pins, particularly the Orion.

(On preview: I don't know why the picture isn't showing, but if you click on that link you should see it.)

After the other successful soldering, I got ambitious and made this big stained glass panel:

It's 14" square, and took me about three hours to make. The center portion is all clear glass; the butterfly pieces are beveled, the surrounding clear parts are frosted in a leaf pattern. The corners are a dark green; both those and the blue side panels are pebbled glass.

Finally, I made a beaded bracelet:

It's about 7" around, with a post and ring clasp.

So all of that kept me pretty busy for the last three days.
