Verizon gave the super an actual date for when we'll get phone service back: January 4. They have to rewire the whole town.
That's more than two months after Sandy came through. According to their website, Verizon will be giving credits for outages; I'll believe that when I see it. They're certainly billing the full amount right now.
If that date holds firm, it's an interesting coincidence: that's when my 30-day data pass from T-Mobile's 4G antenna runs out. Good timing, I suppose, but I'd be happier to get my DSL back sooner.
