winter is coming

Oct 29, 2011 18:04

We've had frosts in October sometimes, although it's not exactly common, but this is the earliest we've had snow in the 23 years I've lived here. The expected heavy rains mixed with snow, starting mid-morning, and also sleet. It's not sticking to the pavement much, yet, although there are some slushy places. Fortunately, the steep, curvy bridge I had to cross after work wasn't frozen yet.

The updated forecast is for 2-4 inches overnight, with lows around 31F. (Originally they were saying less than an inch, with a low of 37.) That's the NWS point forecast for right here. North of the city was expected to get more than that; I haven't checked the latest for them.

The upside: I should be able to stop my allergy medicine--and possibly at least some of my asthma medicine--until spring.
