Today, for the first time in a number of years, I made the family favorite birthday cake, date cake* with chocolate frosting**. The cake came out a tiny bit too dry, but still good; the frosting is too thick to spread well but tastes wonderful. Yum!

*whole-wheat and wheat germ cake, with dates instead of walnuts
**in this case, buttercream frosting with 1/2 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder
