After a run of unseasonably warm weather, it's turned quite cold again here. So of course the library's third floor heat exchanger picks *now* to get a hole in it.
The librarians' office is often rather chilly, especially on sunny mornings (because the sun is hitting the office on the other side where the thermostat is), so the chill in there this cold morning didn't particularly surprise me. (It's not for nothing that I keep a wool blazer over the back of my office chair.) The slight, transient odor of gasoline every time the blower kicked on was worrisome, however.
After a certain amount of dithering, and checking, a hole was discovered in the heat exchanger. So the third floor heating system is now off until it can be repaired. The director was advising us to wear sweaters tomorrow. (As it happens, I'm off tomorrow, but I hope it's fixed by Saturday.)
There seems to be a lot of this kind of thing going around just now. It's a conspiracy, I tells ya!
