Through the years, up and down in weight and self-esteem levels, running has always kept me going. It's a love-hate relationship. I hate to get started: I hate the getting up early in the morning - especially in the subzero degrees of Wisconsin's winter or in the heatwaves of Southern Cal - to get the girls into their confining sports bra that packs them in. But, I do it. I know that I'll feel better afterwards and that it'll make my legs look GOOOD. Plus, the way I love to eat and drink, I can easily become the 400 lbs lady in a matter of time.

So yesterday was no different. I sluggishly got ready and did my stretches. But, to my surprise my body quickly went into gear. Once I got onto the bike path, I soaked in the blue sky, the bright green fields spotted with red and yellow tulips, and I ran my little heart out. Then I got home and that's when I felt the pain. The side toe has been rubbing against the side of my sneaker and it's now a shade redder than the freakin' tulips. Moreover, the foot is swollen! and makes wearing shoes (any shoe) painful! This running peacefully and effortlessly was too good to last! Now it's the ice pack and figuring what I actually did to it, how to heal it and how to prevent it from happening again. :o(
