Police Blotter

Nov 19, 2013 08:31

9:00 PM - Got home. Found the police blocking my housing complex. Told the officer at the entrance that I lived there. He told me the area was closed, and I should go hang out somewhere else for a while. I went to the grocery store.

10:15 PM - Saw road was still blocked. Drove to bar at Holiday Inn and had a Mojito.

11:30 PM - Road still blocked. I parked in front of the nearby Outback Steakhouse and approached a group of cops in the parking lot. They were from another county, and they didn't know what the local police were doing about letting residents get home. One of them told me that there had been a shooting on the highway outside my housing complex, and the shooter escaped into the woods. He tried calling the local cops at the roadblock, but they weren't answering.

11:45 PM Drove up to the roadblock. The cops there wouldn't let me in or tell me when I could go back in.

12:00 PM Called my roommate to tell her I wasn't going to wait. Drove to a friend's house.

So... My local cops are morons. The woods around my house connect with the park and the MARC train line. The shooter must've been long, long gone within an hour.

Also, it's a good thing the cop from the other county told me what was going on. Because I have other ways to find out what's going on, and the police wouldn't have liked them: "Hello? News 4 tip line? Yes, I'd like to report an incident in Gaithersburg. They've pulled in every cop in town and some from other counties. It looks like some sort of manhunt. The police won't say what's happening, but I overheard one of them mention that Al Quieda is in the area, killing Tea Party kittens and puppies."
