It looks like they are very serious about tracking our hours during the shutdown. (To recap: I'm marked as 'essential'. Not because my job is life-or-death, can't stop for a few weeks important, but because we had a stash of outside funding) We have to fill out an online accounting of hours on our patchy effort reporting system. Normally, this system is only used for spot-checking how we allocate time; we fill it out for 2 weeks every quarter. And it's patchy as hell - the effort reporting codes change just about every time we turn it on.
But it's been activated to track all of our efforts during the shutdown, and they want it filled out DAILY. Not "I'll finish at the end of the week".
I went on leave Thursday & Friday, and didn't fill anything out. I didn't know there was a code for leave. It looks like someone went into my sheet and added it for me. Damn. They're actually checking it daily too.
I didn't actually want that leave. It was for a camping trip that got rained out. But the computer system that we use to schedule leave is shut down, so I had no way to cancel the vacation.
