The weekend was very pleasant. Drove down Friday with P-Dude to LBI. Watched a boxing match and raided my stepfather's coconut popsicle stash. Hit the beach Saturday. Saw the surfers with the parachute apparatus strapped to them cruising around the water. fucking impressive. They'd dip the parachute to build speed, then use a swell as a ramp and jump 15-20 feet in the air and hang for up to 10 seconds or so. really cool, I wanna learn. Mom knit me the coolest f-ing sweater. It kinda looks like something a denizen of Zion would have worn, if any of them had new sweaters that weren't covered in holes and oil-stains. Rigged up the bikes and went out Saturday night, hit a bar or three. Shore bars are stupid. Though as we were leaving ran into some kid I met like 8 years back. never for the life of me would I have recognized or realized, but when he said he had met me I knew exactly who it was, even remembered the name. kinda weird. Saw Van Helsing. Might have sucked less if the frame and focus weren't embrangled half the time. The theatre was bizarre. They re-painted this one join on the island this Slurpee blue, with Pepto-colored trim. A true assault on the senses. The ticket booth and candy-stand were run by archetypal film geeks. One tall and skinny, one short and portly, both greasy and amusingly devoid of social skills despite the efforts. The ticket-taker was a pudgy girl with prematurely grey hair fashioned into this beehive/mullet embranglement. 2/3 of the way through the movie there was this repetitive slapping, cracking noise coming from elsewhere in the theatre. What it might have been makes the nerves shudder. Drove home and relaxed the rest of Sunday.
Today on the way back from having my glasses repaired (yay for sunglasses again), I drove down my old street in Closter, as I always do when returning from having my glasses fixed (I'm really good at breaking them). This time I saw a familiar face and stopped. Got to see quite a few of the Clarke-Macmallin clan I used to live next door to. Strange to see the two little kids next door now taller than me, and their older sister with a newborn.
and it's been about 20 minutes and my scalp is beginning to tingle, time to rinse the dye out. night all.
