Anemone had sprinted to Jade Harbor from her job at Sugar Land, the bakery at which she worked (or more of, apparently worked.) Her boss, Mr. Ting, had kept her a few extra minutes past quitting time to talk to her about her poor show of workmanship in her cakes. It had taken every ounce of Anemone's willpower to not snap at the man and potentially lose her job.

But apparently, Cissie was the password, because as soon as she said "Look, I have a friend to meet up with", did Mr. Ting back off and let the pink-haired girl race out the doors to the shop up front.

Bursting into the restaurant, hair in a stunning disarray and some flour still on her cheek, with a little dough beneath her fingernails -- she hadn't been able to wash her hands -- she was quite the sight. But apparently, not exactly a sight, since a couple people already at tables just shrugged when they saw her.

Walking over to Cissie -- she looked just like the girl in the photos -- she panted. "Sorry I'm late."

Oh dear. Cissie immediately stood up and brought out a napkin for her supposed best friend. "Don't worry about it," She laughed, now gently wiping the flour off Anemone's cheeks. "I wasn't waiting for very long anyway."

This was a complete lie, but Cissie had to admit: she liked being able to sit and read through The Little Vampire Women. (Who knew that Jo and Beth had it in them?)

"Come on," She smiled as a waiter took them to a corner booth. "It... looks like you had a busy day at work."

"You can say that again," she said grimly, a little more than uncomfortable when Cissie had wiped the flour from her cheek. Really only people like Dominic -- and what she really meant was, just Dominic -- could get into her personal space like that. But then, she was supposed to be amazing friends with Cissie, so she tried not to show her slight flinch.

Anemone followed with a slumping posture in her walk. She was still a little worn out from her run to the restaurant, so she was incredibly grateful when she was able to take a seat at the booth.

Maybe... that wasn't the best thing to do. Cissie acknowledged the flinch with a sheepish smile. Okay, next time, don't invade people's personal space. Not everyone's attended an all-girl school. (At Elias, personal space just didn't exist--- not when everyone was all over everyone else and makeovers were routine on Saturday evenings.)

Taking a menu from the waiter, Cissie offered one to Anemone and flipped through the pages. Everything looked amazing - and it'd be hard to pare it down to a few dishes - so she spent a while looking at the menu.

"How bad was it?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. "I... can understand if you don't want to talk about it, but I'm a decent cook."
