"Hello," she replied. She knew the face - it was hard to miss. He looked just like the version of him she'd seen in Felix's apartment, but significantly more tangible.

But even if she recognized him, the reverse was highly unlikely. So she said, "I am Doctor Angelicus."

Angelicus and Mildmay were going to get along on that whole "not smiling, ever" thing.

"Yes. I have seen you before, because of your brother." Very matter-of-fact, like that was totally not weird at all. People met spectral projections of you before you were ever even aware they existed ALL THE TIME, right? "I am glad to be able to meet you in person."

Amelia would be a far cry distant from the somber mood of both her companions. At the agreement to meet, she'd dashed off a note to Gracia and her mother and darted toward the canal. She would only be a few minutes late ( ... )

Amelia was impossible to ignore and Angelicus's attention turned to the girl's exuberant approach. Her expression warmed - not quite a smile, but it was obvious that Amelia was somebody she liked to see.

She waited until the girl was within casual conversation distance before returning the greeting. "Hello, Amelia. You seem excited."

"Well, we're hunting shards!" Amelia nearly skidded to a stop in front of them both, beaming up at them. "We've been planning it for a long time, haven't we? We're making progress on what we're supposed to do. The entire community united for Justice!"

Because seriously, how was that not exciting?

Her eyes moved next to Mildmay. Perhaps it was the influence of Zelgadis that did not make her flinch . . . the sight of a blue-skinned stone creature remained much more startling than a man whose scars were fierce, but altogether human. Aside from that, a kinship to Felix was immediately apparent. "It's really nice to meet you, Mildmay-san."

A blink towards the canal. "We're staying mostly along here, yes?"

"They are small," Angelicus answered, holding her hands up to indicate the relative size. She hadn't brought hers or she would've shown him. "They are blue and very vibrant, and they glitter as if in direct sunlight. They are sometimes carried by grotesques - " a word from home that she hadn't quite gotten out of her thinking yet " - in which case a battle is necessary."

She turned to Amelia. "But I believe you are equipped to handle that, Amelia. Would you like to lead the way?"

By "grotesques," Amelia had to wonder if Angelicus meant the creatures . . . but in the end assumed she was. After all, there weren't any other beings in the world that they knew of that required battle yet. "I didn't bring mine either," she added with a small mental sweatdrop -- because really, it wasn't good to leave it lying around. "But . . . they also have a feeling about them. They don't really feel good at all."

As far as leading, however, this was not something she often did. Lina led. Zelgadis led. Amelia only led if it was just Gourry about, and that wasn't entirely saying much.

But. This didn't mean she didn't like to, either. Twisting like a girl out to lead an army, Amelia flung her arm out with all due glee. "Let the shard hunting mission of Justice commence! For~ward, march!"

And she headed off doing just that. . . . Hopefully the others wouldn't be too embarrassed to follow.

Just because she was accustomed to walking again didn't mean Angelicus liked doing it. She could keep up with Amelia just fine, but didn't like the pace, and was observant enough to notice Mildmay struggling with his limp (and intuitive enough to realize that his silent struggling meant he probably didn't want anybody to call attention to it).

"Amelia," she called out. "I understand your exuberance, but perhaps it would be best if you led a bit slower. Walking is still difficult for me in this undistorted form."
