"I'm sure there are worse things to step on barefoot than a piece of apple."
In other news, one of the kids in Evan's room has the measles. Evan, of course, is not yet vaccinated for measles - the MMR isn't on his schedule until 2 years (and he's not getting it then either, but that's another post). I'm not worried about him getting them, but it'll be damned inconvenient for it to happen this week. I talked to the nurse who did all the medical history questions with me and she said that as long as he didn't actively have it, we should still go forward with his MRI.
At least I know I'm immune, since I got a mild case from my "replacement" MMR when I was 17.
He actually had all the symptoms with his weird illness this Friday/weekend - including the sudden spiked fever, but no rash. I don't know if you can get the virus and not get the rash. Having immunity to it would be a great reason for him to bypass the MMR and just get independent Mumps and Rubella vax when the time comes without getting too much grief from doctor and insurance.
Evan's MRI is in the morning. We get to the hospital at 7, anesthesia is scheduled for 8:30. They don't want me to nurse him after 3am - the '4 hours' is supposed to be to admission time, not scheduled time. I'll probably go sleep on the couch when I wake up and nurse him close to that time.
I couldn't find anyone to tell me what to expect wrt how they'll put him out and when or if there will be an IV. This does not please me and is going, I believe, to warrant a grumpy letter once all is done.
