I'm just not doing much lately. This semester's been a bit of a blow off, really. Only 4 classes and a whole lotta free time. I've spent a lot of it sleeping. But I've been writing a lot, and reading a lot, which is good, outside of school work, too. I did join the Honors English frat, Sigma Tau Delta, but considering it's the end of my senior year, I haven't really done anything for it except paid the money. All the meetings are scheduled when I'm in class... Though, in all honesty, I'm really not *that* interested.
I've also been going home a lot... and reading a lot of X-Men (mostly stuff that takes place between House of M and the recent Messiah Complex). You know, there are a lot of really deep graphic novels out there which call attention to a lot of issues, be they political, or moral, or ethical. Some comics just seek to entertain with action, horror, comedy, etc... X-men does a little of it all. It's got great characters and character development. It has classic outrageous comic elements (like space travel and giant robots and stuff), but then it also has the very human side of things which focuses on oppression, freedom and what defines a people as people, good and bad, and all that good stuff. Marvel comics really does an excellent job with such issues and plot lines (even if they are a bit ridiculous sometimes). After House of M, things in the 616 universe are starting to get back to the good old struggle of the Mutant minority and how a dying breed is viewed in the world. It's good stuff.
Another thing I've been sort of entertained by are reruns of Venture Bros. lately. So I looked up some information and apparently there will be a season 3 and 4. Yes! When I was looking up info, I discovered something interesting about why it takes so long for each season to debut. The show is hand drawn and animated old school style. I always wondered why that show drew me in, despite the awesomely inappropriate datede pop-culture parody-ness of it, as most of the Adult Swim originals tend to annoy me (there are exceptions), and that's probably why. These days, anyone can make a semi-decent cartoon on a computer with copy and paste, Flash, and a little time, but actually quality animation takes a lot of time and effort. Plus... Dr. O is hilarious. I should really pick up a copy of seasons 1 and 2...
Well, I gotta go to work in a little while...
