Today was my seven-day post-operative exam (yes, my seven day checkup took place on day five; calendars are useless in my world), and everything still looks good. Thankfully, I never experienced the scratchy feeling that the other doctor warned me about last week. I'm down to about 20/25 in each eye, but when they work together I can see 20/20. My surgeon released me from those damnable eye shields when sleeping (which is a good thing because they were growing some serious funk) and says I can stop using the steroid and antibiotic drops after tonight. My eyes will stabilize after I stop using those drops and will slowly work their way to 20/20. I need to keep using artificial tears two or three times a day for the next few weeks, though, because the nerves have not healed yet and are not telling my eyes that they're dry and need to manufacture real tears. I have one more follow-up at the end of the month, and then I'm free for a year!
