Long Time, No Post

So it's been a long time since I posted. It's not that I've had nothing new to report...I just haven't felt like there was any reason for me to post. I'm bored though, so I'll do the two people who actually read this a favor and update.

Anyways, I haven't posted since...I guess June 19th...wow, it has been a while. I haven't been doing a whole lot at all, just a LOT of work and other than that, just church league softball, but I'll get into that soon. Work was crazy there for a while...I worked seven straight closes at one point, drove me NUTS. Fortunately, I had a record breaking paycheck of $325, so that made me happy. I've still been working quite a lot, but it doesn't seem nearly as much in comparison, so yeah. And of course, it doesn't seem nearly as bad when I'm working with the "object of my affection" :-D, it's so much fun to flirt with Erin. Anyways, yeah...work is work.

On another financial note, I got some exciting news for me. I applied for disability back in March, just because I thought I deserved a little extra cash flow with all the health crap I've had to deal with :-), and I do get out of breath working sometimes. I got approved, and it looks like I'll be getting around $750/month, and I don't have to do a thing except send the Social Security Office my pay stubs every month or so. That excited me, and as far as I know, they owe me all the money since I applied, so it looks like I might be getting a lump sum of like $2,000. That's so cool. Don't think I'm cheating anybody, I only applied at the advise of my Social Worker at the hospital in Milwaukee, so it can't be illegal or anything. And they determined themselves that I was disabled enough to be eligible.

I've been playing softball every Tuesday this summer. I've played 5 games, and have sustained minor injuries in 4 of those 5 games. I play 2nd base, and I'm our "gold glover', I guess. In our first game, we played Crossroads, and a guy hit a ball to deep right field. There was going to be a play at the plate, so I was the cutoff man at 2nd base. When the outfielder threw me the ball, it hit in the heel of my glove, and bruised my hand, and it hurt pretty bad. We won though, and I was excited that we beat mighty Crossroads. In our second game, we played Faith United, and that was my game to shine. I made 4 "Web Gem" plays at 2nd base, one of which hit the heel of my glove again, causing another hand bruise. I also made a leaping catch that you only see on ESPN :-D. Third game, I missed because of a Cubs game. Fourth game, I didn't injure myself. We played a team that I don't remember, and ended up losing. Fifth game, we played Freeport Methodist (Jamersons' church), and won in extra innings. I hit a triple, and tried to stretch it into an inside-the-park home run, and slid into home plate, but I was out. I skinned up my arm a little, but it was all good in the end. We ended up winning on a walk-off single. Last night, we played Trinity and got crushed because the park is small, so home runs are hit often. I slid into home on a play again, and definitely skinned up my leg pretty bad. I went to Subway to clean it off a little, but it hurt. I went home and applied a wet towel and Ace-bandaged it up. I've had to change the towel three times; it hurt so bad taking it off because it had fused itself to my scraped up leg. As we speak, my wound is still dusty from the field; it hurts too much to wipe off the dirt. I put some Bactine on the towel, but it'll probably end up infected and I'll either die, or get it amputated. Softball is so much fun though, I love it. I'm hitting like .650 so far...can you say batting title? :-D No Triple Crown though because home runs are hard to hit.

I'm leaving for Cincinnati on Monday, that'll be so much fun. I'm taking a road trip with a a couple good friends (one being my future roommate). We're going to a Cubs game at the Great American Ballpark, and whatever else we decide to do. I think we're doing some bowling, a lot of eating, and hitting up the mall too. Our hotel is cool too; free wireless internet access in the rooms, we'll definitely be bringing our laptops. We'll likely get lost, but that's all part of the fun. It's like an 8 hour trip, and we have no experience in long distance travel; it'll be a blast.

In regards to baseball, I hope the Cubs start to pick up the pace after the break. They lost 8 games in a row in a pathetic string of losses, and then went and swept the Marlins out of nowhere, so I have no idea what to expect from them. In a typical All-Star game, the AL beat the NL into submission, like they have for the past decade. The Cubs did alright though, go D Lee and A-Ram!

Anyways, I guess I've said a mouthful. I don't have much else to say, so I'll leave it at that. Peace out baby-blue!
