Part 3, Part 4,
Part 5, Part 6 Too hot; that’s how he felt. The air conditioner was broken and the humid night air brought no real relief. Gabriel turned over onto his side; he knew he wouldn’t be able to sleep. He listened for the sounds outside and heard nothing. Not even the crickets were chirping. Taking a deep drag of heavy air through his nose, he tasted it, electric. Rolling his eyes with a sigh, Gabriel Gray turned out of the bed. There was a sound in the distance, rolling and heavy.
Good, he thought, maybe it will bring some relief. He threw a glace over to the chair next to the window, there rested a pair of pants and his day shirt. He walked over and opted for just the pants, stepped into them then opened the door to his motel room. It really was too hot for pants but he didn’t want to be ‘that guy’. He stepped out into the thick air taking several breaths, tasting so many things as he listened for the rumble in the distance, but there was another sound. He titled his head and listened, vaguely missing his superior hearing.
There was the creak and the clicking sound of a door opening. He looked to his right as his lips pulled into a soft smile. Several doors down, Maya Herrera stood facing the entrance to her room, peering inside the door as she tried to close it. She was bent at the waist and standing on the balls of her feet in an attempt at stealth. Gabe’s curious smile turned into a leer as he took in what she was (or more likely wasn’t) wearing. The faded pink terry cloth shorts barely covered her smooth backside while a deep plum colored top rode high over her waist. He licked his lips leaning back into the shadows of his room, peeking through the door frame.
With a satisfied click, Maya finally managed to get the door closed. She straightened in front of it letting out an exasperated sigh. Her head tilted back with it; long dark brown hair flowed downward kissing the small of her back, the light catching the smoothness of her exposed neck. There was a pain in Gabriel’s chest as he realized he’d been holding his breath. He watch her hands drift to her back, pressing as she arched her spine in a deep bowing stretch.
He gently readjusted the aching bulge in his pants, gritting his teeth as a strangely familiar sensation spread over his body. He remember back to just a few hours ago when their bodies danced over one other on a dirty little dance floor. He remembered her mouth and the way she moved in his arms. How, just a few short hours ago, those same fingers, that clutched and caressed him, were now on her own body. His cock bobbed against his hand with a low, hot ache and he leaned his forehead against the door frame frowning down at it. He pressed his hand harder into the offending organ, the added pressure of it made his breath quicken with need. He closed his eyes letting a hiss of pleasure slip between his lips stroking himself again while thinking of Maya and her warm, soft body.
His fingers started to close around his prick, when he opened his eyes again to see Maya standing just outside the doorway, arm posed for a knock. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion as her cautious hand pushed the door opened with a strong knock, in a speed that seemed too fast for Gabriel to react. The door swung opened a bit, smacking Gabriel in the head. He reeled back, more surprised than hurt, as his foot caught the small table next to the window. He shuffled wildly before landing unflatteringly hard on his backside with a loud flopping sound. She began knocking more heatedly hearing the ruckus on the other side of the door. “Gabriel, are you okay?” she pushed gently at his door managing to crack it open a little more, but his foot jammed it on the other side.
…
Maya pressed her finger gingerly into the door testing to see how far it would open. It swung opened loosely, bouncing off a soft something on the other side, then suddenly closed shut. The sound made Maya jump back in alarm. She wasn’t sure if she should knock again. For all she knew Gabriel wasn’t alone in there. She stared at the door for a while, an annoyed frown set in her pretty features. Apparently everyone’s getting lucky tonight. She threw lingering look at her own door, pinched her eyes shut and shook her head.
She thought about going back into the room she’d shared with Alejandro to retrieve something for her feet, but making a face, thought again and turned away to wander off down the walk way.
Inside Gabriel scrambled to his feet and rushed the door pulling it opened in a wide arch. He poked his head through the other side swiveling it back and forth until he caught the sight of Maya’s receding form in the darkness. “Maya?” he watched her stiffen with a start and falter a bit on her feet. She turned in his direction with her hand covering her chest. He eyes caught the deep rise and fall of her upper body and he smirked at the thought of scaring her. “What are you doing?” he asked rubbing his forehead absently.
¿Mí? ¿Qué estoy hacienda?” Maya whispered trying to calm herself down as she walked back to his door ... “I was getting some air; I didn’t mean to disturb you.” She bowed her head politely and turned away from him. Gabriel stepped through the door, reaching out to grab her arm, she looked up at him and he slipped his grip down to her hand. “Where are you going?” He rubbed his thumb over her knuckles, marveling at how soft and small her hands were in his larger ones. She looked down at their hands then back up into his eyes. “I thought you might be … busy.” Maya tilled her head in a curious angle, peering up into his eyes. Gabriel blushed, dropping his chin to his chest with an audible thump. His fingers lost their grip on hers and slid down his pant leg nervously. “You surprised me, is all.” he still avoiding her eyes.
He took a deep breath and ran his hand over his moist scalp. It was still so hot. He looked down at the ground and flexed his toes experimentally. “Going for a walk?” His eyebrows shot up in amusement and her eyes followed his to the space between them. “And how far were you planning on getting without any shoes?” Maya’s lips puckered as she used one foot to cover the other, she shook her head to hide a smile behind her hair. Reflexively he pushed away from the frame of the door, tangling his hands in her soft, warm curls. He managed to tuck most of it behind her ears while pulling her closer to him. Watching her lips tremble and felt his skin prickle at the touch of her arms closing around his waist. There was a strong sense of déjà vu.
“Maya, what are you doing out here? Why aren’t you in your room?” he asked again trailing a finger smoothly over her collarbone.
“I had to leave from that room. My brother …” she sighed and shook her head. “He has forgotten that we share that space.” There was an edge of annoyance in her voice as her gaze drifted down the walk way to her door. Her forehead crinkled with a little frown and Gabriel’s heart sped up.
“I don’t understand. Did he kick you out?” He put his hands on her shoulders trying to follow her stare. He felt her hands fist at his back and her head shook in response. “He brought someone back with him.” There was another deep roll of thunder as the storm closed in. The wind began to pick up and he wondered vaguely if her mood also affected the weather. He looked up towards the sky as his grip on her tightened. “Come inside.”
