RANT! RAGE! ZUNE!

I'm helping a comparatively less tech-savvy friend acclimatize to his Zune and I have to say - jeezus christ, you people suck. By "you people" I mean not just the Microsoft employees that put this piece of shit together but everyone that allowed so much DRM, OS bloat and other nonsense to creep into the larger mp3 culture.

Can someone, anyone, ( Read more... )

tech, me, google should know this, meatspace, rampant idiocy

The pics of all those happy young people in the install software screenshots online really annoy me.

But since I plan on gettin an iAudio mp3 player one of these days, it doesn't matter that much to me.

but everyone that allowed so much DRM, OS bloat and other nonsense to creep into the larger mp3 culture.

You mean the Pigopolists (ie, Entertainment Industry) who pushed very hard for this crap? I may not be able to avoid buying new DVDs in the future once I finally get around to getting a nice multi-regional DVD player, but I sure as hell do my best to only buy used CDs if they're from the major labels due to bullshit like this (well, and I haven't heard of that many great artists coming from them anymore in about seven years or so).

Let me put it this way: the 128 MB player is my favorite. Flash drive, boots up instantly, will store files of any format (whether they're playable or not), voice-record, FM radio, FM recording, small, lightweight, I can use it effortlessly without even taking my hand out of my pocket ... the list goes on. While the Microphoto is relatively inoffensive, does several of the things listed above (and carries my entire music collection), it's heavier, needs a seperate USB cord, only works with USB 2.0 and ... and ...

... it CRASHES.

Seriously, someone just douse me in kerosene and set me on fire now. It'd be less aggravating.

I've never understood the appeal of players less than 5 gigs, but to each his/her/it's own...

That being said, yes, certain people in the tech and entertainment industry should be shot.

*heh* I rather liked picking what songs would carry me through the day, loading them onto my MuVo (generally between 33 and 40) and heading out to face the day. Heh.

The Microphoto, while it contains my entire collection (and that is good, no doubt), requires me to run through multi-layered menus and such. If I wanted a computer, I'd be using one.

Oh, this is why I loved my iRiver. I think it did have DRM stuff on it but the entire thing behaved like a massive USB external harddrive.
Now it's dead, weep weep.

That is all I ask from any mp3 player. Why that is so hard for manufacturers to understand, I'll never know.

Now it's dead, weep weep.

Planned obsolescence, whachagonnado.
