It's been a supercrazygood weekend. Friday night was Josh's company Christmas party. We met at the
Ashton Hotel in Ft. Worth for dinner, then walked a couple of blocks to catch
Four Day Weekend, an improv comedy show. It was so much better than expected-- we were told we'd be going to a comedy club, and we were...doubtful. There was much laughing, and Josh deemed it to be half as good as Whose Line. That's high praise. After the laughing, we headed back to the Ashton for dessert, drinks and mingling-- and Josh got an award! There were three given out, and Josh got the Efficiency Award. The inscription on the plaque says: Never One To Leave A Job Undone, Thanks For Your Tireless Efforts. And to think, he considers himself a slacker! I'm proud of him. He does work hard, and it's nice that his company recognizes and appreciates that.
I had not really eaten anything all evening thanks to the food allergies of doom, so by that point I was beginning to fade into nothingness. Much to my stomach's delight, we hit up the Chili's across the street before calling it a night. The hotel bed was way comfy, but my brain does not like sleep, so instead I listened to Josh sleeping soundly. Breakfast? Eh. Also at the Ashton, but I don't think they get much of a breakfast crowd. They were way understaffed. No matter, I had my bacons and all was well with the world.
My mom stayed with the boys Friday night and then also took them to a dance performance on Saturday-- they had such a good time! Today I overheard them talking-- Max asked Khai, "Don't you wish Gram were still here?" So sweet. Thanks, Mom! (Also, I found your travel coffee mug and will bring it to you on Saturday with some of the ornaments you made-- the boys were *very concerned* and worried that you needed those for your tree.)
Saturday afternoon, Brandon brought his girlfriend over for a while since they were still in town. They'd been out shopping, and she had a new
Corioliss hair straightener (a bday present from Brandon) and offered to try it out on me. Seriously: ONE PASS and the hair was perfectly smooth. And now I have to get one. Here's a pic of my supah-straight-herruh that I did not even wash today because I didn't want to ruin the straightness:
Disclaimer: Stupidest pic of me, best pic of hair. Murphy guffaws.
Celeste is a dear and I'm so glad to have met her. It's weird to hang out with Brandon again after so many years! So much has changed, but nothing has changed. You know? Yeah, you know. Good. He's actually staying the night with us tonight, as his flight to Chicago was canceled due to weather. Celeste headed back to Aspen... and is still en route.
There's more but I'm tired now and I have to wash my hair. I really wanted to get the lights on the house yesterday but did not get it done-- now it's toooo cold to go prancing about on the roof. It's nice to have some winterish weather, though, so I'm not complaining.
OMG, 15 days til Christmas. SO much to do still. I should maybe buy Christmas cards?
