Calleigh Duquesne wasn't as blind as Ryan Wolfe and Eric Delko. Ever since Eric's firing for getting caught buying drugs and Ryan's vision slowly going bad from his on-the-job accident, she could tell their relationship had changed for the worse no matter how hard they tried to play it off and ignore it. Ryan was no longer himself slowly transforming back into the old Ryan who didn't talk to anybody about his problems. Eric was moodier and gave smartass remarks like Timothy Speedle did before he passed away. Calleigh knew their relationship was completely broken but both of them refused to admit it.
How exactly did Calleigh know their relationship was broken? Besides their personality changes, she noticed how they were back to their anger with each other. Before the two got together and Ryan’s incident with the nail gun, the two of them had had an intense rivalry. It had really started when Ryan had come in after Timothy’s death but it didn’t start to show until he had taken credit for evidence that Eric had found. It took a long time for Eric to accept Timothy’s death because they were very close friends and it was also hard for him to see Ryan as anything other than his replacement.
She hated being in the middle of the two of them but Eric and Ryan forced her to be their middleman. Anytime the two of them engaged in an argument, she always had to tell one of them to cut it out and have the other one come with her. She heard the same thing from them both every time: “You always take his side”. Her reply was always “Funny, he says the same thing about you.” Their latest argument to date involved Eric doing the test that Horatio told Ryan to do while working on a case of a murdered landlord. Calleigh was walking by the lab when she heard coming from inside. If she hadn't stepped in when she did, they two of them would have taken a swing at each other. She grabbed Ryan by his arm and somehow managed to drag him out of the lab. Ryan was about to get in her face until she called Eric out into the hallway.
“Look! I've had it up to here with you two!” She yelled at the both of them, getting the attention of several other people in the lab who happened to hear her.
“Tell him that!” Eric said, glaring at his boyfriend.
“Fuck you Delko!” Ryan said, stepping dangerously close to him.
Next thing Calleigh knew, both men were on the floor and were throwing punches at each other. Ryan somehow managed to keep Eric pinned to the floor as he started to punch him in the chest before taking a powerful swing at his jaw. Eric yelled out in pain before knocking Ryan off and blindly took a swing at him. The moment his fist connected with Ryan’s infected eye, everything seem to be in slow motion. Calleigh’s eyes became wide as she watched and Ryan immediately grabbed his eye as he felt the punch. Eric looked to see where his punch had landed and his jaw dropped. He remembered Ryan complaining about the slight pain in his eye from time to time but he didn’t really know how bad it was. He quickly felt sorry for him and was going to apologize until Ryan grabbed him by his lab-coat collar, slamming him into the nearby glass wall. Eric cried out in pain as his boyfriend continued to slam him against the wall.
It took four lab employees to separate the two of them, two holding each one back. Ryan and Eric were yelling and screaming at each other until Horatio showed up.
“Gentlemen, if you have a problem with each other you deal with it outside of this lab.” He said, looking upset at the both of them. “Do you understand me?”
Both men said yes and were let go by their colleagues.
“As of right now, Delko and Mr. Wolfe, you are both suspended for a week with pay. I strongly recommend that you see a therapist as soon as possible. Again do you understand me?”
Neither of the men replied until Horatio looked at them again. They finally said that they understood. Horatio left the two men alone before heading back over to the DNA lab. Calleigh crossed her arms in front of her chest, looking at them.
“Why are the two of you so damn stubborn?” She said angrily.
“We’re not stubborn.” Eric said, looking back at her.
“You’re in denial about fixing your relationship.”
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Ryan claimed, looking away from her.
“Fine. Be unhappy with each other because unlike you with that eye Ryan, and you Eric with your pig-headedness, the rest of us aren't blind to what's going on here.”
Calleigh walked away quickly from both men, leaving the two of them stunned as they looked at each other and wondered if what she said was true.
