Make this 3x in the past 2 months... this time for a DEVASTATING accident on the interstate. This one ranks in my Top 5 All-Time Horrible Accidents.
The disptach came in at 9:11am EST (nice huh?)
"110-1, 110-2. Life 791, Life 793, TC-179, Rescue 13, Rescue 12, Engine 16, Engine 15, EMS-15... in Hamilton... I-195, Westbound at Exit 1, for MVA Multi-Vehicle Crash w/ Heavy Rescue"
15 Passenger Van (6 people inside), Vs. 18-Wheeler, Vs. Car? (I think... thats how bad it looked)..
4 Trauma Alerts - One of which was a 6 month old baby...that I fear may not live much longer. The baby was not in a car seat when the van crossed to the oncoming traffic (through the median) and collided at over 65 mph HEAD-ON with the 18-wheeler... possibly pinballed inside the van and came to rest unconcious with TREMENDOUS head trauma in an airpocket in the wheel well....... the other vehicle was just an innocent "wrong place, right time" thing.
The van was obliterated in the front... the engine was pushed into the cab... and the steering wheel was almost through the roof... all 6 people were SEVERELY injured..
The car was.... umm... almost non-existant... prolly flipped over 8-10 times... there was no telling that the crumbled ball of metal was even a car to start out with... the driver a 25 yr. old woman was DOA.. leaving behind a 1 and 3 year old child (whom she JUST dropped off at her mom's).
The highway was closed TOTALLY for over 4 hours... with body-sniffing dogs searching for possible other bodies that were thrown into the woods...
The debris field from this horrid incident was strewn over 100 yds. away... it mustve been a nasty impact...
I could go on.... but itll be all over the news and newspapers for days to come..
*sigh*
the day was overly busy..
110-1 - 12 calls
110-2 - 12 calls
making the total: 24 Calls in 12 hours... for 2 trucks.... un-fucking-believeable!
