Yes, the plot is basically a random kid is chosen to control a player robot and fight robots during games to keep the bad guy from collecting 32 jewel shards (lol, Inuyasha) from 32 stadiums (...what?) to keep the bad guy from combining them and...winning? Oh and professional football was created by aliens. Naturally.
I love the random details, the Chargers have a robotics lab under their field, the "avatar" for the NJ/NY Giants are represented by a NY/NJ icon- a little man dressed as the statue of liberty, and the ENTIRE LEAGUE is on this whole thing, but the red shirt fans in the stadiums aren't.
