Battlestar Slayer
So I spent some time today poking around Twisting the Hellmouth... because I should be having a life and I totally don't. I came across one fic that rewrote the miniseries with characters from Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. The story itself was really not well written, but I thought it was really enjoyable to see their picks for matching up characters and coming up with callsigns for people in the Buffyverse. (I have been thinking alot about certain similarities between Kara and Buffy... which led to an Adama and Giles comparisson and then... well I'm glad I had this to help me figure out my feelings on the matchup.)
I have a little chart under the cut of the character pairings and my thoughts on them.

Absent father and awesome father figure, dead mother, Lee-Angel, Sam-Riley, Leoben-Spike (at least that's how my brain looks at it), comes back from the dead, harbinger of death/death is her gift.... The more I think about it the more similar they are. Great Callsign tooLeeLiam GilesAngelAngel....excuse me while I just snicker in a corner somewhere at the perfection of this one. My ships just got doubly reinforced.TyrolChief Xander Harris XanderYes, yes, yes, a thousand times YESRoslinJenny Calendar JoyceMystical teacher with the hots for the guy in charge... I dig it. I suppose the other option up for this part would be Joyce who I think is also valid, but the teacher thing is what ended up selling me on Jenny as okay.
But as
aria pointed out, Joyce fills a better mother!figure role, and I could totally see her being President... she did run MOOTighSam Zabuto WesleyI like that the author kept the Watcher theme going, and my first instinct was actually Ethan for Tigh because of the connection with Giles, but my brother pointed out Wesley ALSO keeps the watcher theme going and says some interesting things. So I'm ultimately gonna go with Wes here. GaiusLindsey MacDonald LindseyI'm stunned by how perfect this is. Especially early Lindsey and his constant flip flopping of sides. I could see him filling a Gaius role... this was one I agreed with because I couldn't think of how to place Gaius.HeloWilliam BledsoeSpikeTaraWilliam Bledsoe... I cannot begin with how perfect the naming is on this one. The fact that Spike is Helo cracks me up to no end.
My original thought for Helo was Willow, mainly because Helo and Kara have the bffles thing as do Willow and Buffy. Sure it messes with the plot-line a bit.
Someone suggested considering a couple of scenes when Buffy burst into tears when other Scooby were not around except for Tara, I really like this too, plus it preserves the ship... *points down*SharonFaith LehaneDarksideWillowBe afraid.... be very, very afraid. Love the callsign. And actually a really perfect person to be Sharon considering Faith's sexual relations with Xander *points up* and she totally should have gotten it on with Spike *points to fic choice*
However, in the end I'm going with Willow. Sharon points out her sister-like relationship with Kara in Scar, which points to a closeness that I think Willow and Buffy have. Also relationship-wise, she did have her early crush on Xander, and personality wise we do have the Dark Willow arc. (There are many Willows?)
DeeKendra Kate LockleyI'm not 100% sure how I feel about this one. I feel like this ended up being a skin color comparison, and that makes me antsy. I also don't see Kendra as a very Dee-like character, but I'm not sure who I would place.
beer_good_foamy just gave me Kate for Dee, and I actually really dig it. There was a little bit of Kate/Angel hinted at so it does work for the characters.GaetaParker Abrams Andrew......gods no... please, please, no. NOT Parker. I liked

Gay techie dweebs who occassionally do bad things but are good people.Hoshi JonathanI never really shipped Andrew/Jonathan, but I could dig it, especially after their roadtrip in MexicoVarious DeckhandsDavid Nabbit, Vi, Andrew Wells David, Vi, DawnI love this more than words can express. I especially love the inclusion of Nabbit considering he was only in like... 3 episodes of Angel, running around with a purple cape. Plus Vi! VI!!!!! My Felicia Day love is through the roof, and of course keeping Andrew and Xander in the same space at any given time is fantastic. However, I really would prefer Andrew as Gaeta...
