Summertime

Alright, I've thought about it for awhile and I've decided I really want to do at least these two things this summer:

1) Jersey shore time - I try to get there every year and I don't want to miss it this year.  Even if just for a day trip for a boardwalk (in that case, I'd probably pick Wildwood so I could do something crazy, or Atlantic City for some gambling), or maybe a weekend, or even one night stay during the week.  Whatever the case, I need to go.

2) Coney Island - I've never been there!  I'd probably want to make a weekend out of this, but a day trip would be possible.  I just hate rushing through things that I've never done before, and feeling like I didn't experience it all.  Being interested in abandoned amusement parks, Coney Island has come up in a lot of my perusing, even though part of it is still up and running.  I've learned plenty about it over the years, but still have yet to go.  Maybe I could combine a trip to combine it with a stay in Manhatten, since I haven't been there in a few years either.  Hmm, the ideas...

I know it's not much for my want to travel, but it's a start (I don't even know if I count the Jersey Shore as travel anymore), and I hope do more every year as I get more funds to do so.  Part of the issue is a travel buddy, so if anyone is interested (and/or you have other places you're interested in), even if we don't live close to each other, let me know!  There's always the joy of Amtrack/driving ourselves and meeting up.  If no one is interested, I'll just figure something else out.

Some other things for the summer... Frilladelphia is very active, so I'm sure I'll be able to make at least a few meet ups with them (although some are a little far for day trips and some are on days I know I can't get off work).  Speaking of work, we have plenty of fun volunteer activities coming up - namely one at Great Adventure, and one at the Philadelphia Zoo.  Also, I recently joined the Coaster Crusaders, and they have plenty of plans for the summer, including another trip to Great Adventure.  This weekend, they did Six Flags Great America and I'm bummed I couldn't go, but I'm hoping to make more of the meets they have planned.

With my last animu convention (Otakon, although I do think I'll keep going to Zenkaikon since it's so close) and regular trips to the shore with my parents (boat time!), it's shaping up to be a busy summer.  I hope everything will be fun, and I hope I'm able to afford it all!
