I am so, so, so sorry. You did everything you could and I know, know Maggie felt that. She knew, no matter how bad she felt, she was safe with you. I am glad she could die in your arms, feeling that love and protection at the very end.
Losing a pet is horrible. It's like losing a child, friend and family member all at once- they play so many roles. Try not to think back, "if I had just done this..." - how could guess your parents weren't looking after her like that or that she would get sick.
I can't even advise what to do with your mother. I feel the same as you. It's one thing if a pet gets sick and it's really an accident it's gone unnoticed (it happens!) but to not even be sorry and to let it go on for so long. It's really sad to me.
Don't ever apologize about having to be sad! That is what your journal is for, we all go through bouts of sadness and otherwise. I seriously don't know how I maintained any friends through 2009-2010 because I was so down- but now I am on an up swing. It happens to everyone!

Again, condolences over Maggie, RIP.
