I'm an FSU and a football fan. Last night pissed me off as a football fan. I was alright as an FSU fan, because I'd like to consider myself a reasonable FSU fan, not one of the many ignorant and reactionary fools who style themselves as such.

I'm used to bad and game-changing calls and non-calls. It's the ACC. The ACC couldn't officiate themselves out of a paper bag with Braille instructions written on the sides. Hell, and I've seen this behavior before at basketball games, and it almost hurts that basketball behavior is infiltrating football.

I'm just saying, and I might be wrong, but A, call your fucking unsportsmanlike conduct penalties for excessive celebration since you're so damn fond of them, B, DO YOUR FUCKING JOB when the fans rush the field while the clock is still going, and C, DON'T RUN AWAY.

Like I said, it's the football fan that's pissed at that, not the FSU fan. The FSU fan acknowledges that as more proof that most football fans are fucking retarded, especially when it comes to beating us, and that those issues had absolutely no impact on the game itself. The FSU fan kinda wishes wins and things could be revoked for such egregious actions.

The defense, for the most part, didn't let the lauded triple option run all over them. They had lapses. Okay. But there were three-and-outs, there was an interception, they didn't let the lead grow to the point where the offense was incapable of fixing it. Overall, I think they done good. For where I expected to be as a program and where they are, I have absolutely no complaints. And I'm not changing my expectations based on a good start to the season. There are still four more games to go, each harder than the one before. As long as they keep growing and learning, I'm happy.

I also want a bowl trip, but I honestly don't think we'll manage to go 4-0. Clemson has a target painted on them, BC is... almost unmentionable. Maryland is schizophrenic and I still maintain that the team has the potential to beat Florida, although I think that potential will stay unrealized.

Things I'm incredibly happy about: never giving up, pulling reinvigorating drives out of their asses, converting third-and-longs, intercepting whats-his-face-not-Nesbitt, D'vo getting some good playing time and experience, being able to switch QBs in and out without frying the rest of the O's brain, BERT DUCKING AND CAUSING AN INJURY TO SOME GT GUY IN TRUE CARTOON FASHION, Jermaine Thomas getting several snaps and doing well, the D being able to brick wall GT's O, injuring yet another QB (I maintain it's practice for UF). None of this would have happened last year. So really, I'm thrilled about the game. I wouldn't rewatch it because it is ugly and heart-wrenching, but I saw enough progress to sleep very well last night.

Of course, I also slept very well because I hadn't gone to bed since Thursday night and there it was early Sunday morning and I was hallucinating and slowly dying inside.

CONCLUDING STATEMENT
It doesn't bother me that teams are squeeing their pants because they ZOMG FINALLY beat us when we're in a slump. It doesn't say anything about us. It just means they're a pussy.

acc, etc etc.

rants, football
