Heh. "Works" would be an awkward word to describe the way things progress here... Things are fairly order-free, in terms of paying taxes or required civil duties. There are patrolmen, though, for keeping the peace. The mayor of Memento Eden, which is the name of this town and the island itself, is someone named Ari. Not many have ever seen her face, though.

If anything, it's not who, but "what" you should be asking holds the power here. The answer to that would be magic, plain and simple. Life around here can change in the blink of an eye, though strange phenomena have been slowing down recently... Just prepare yourself for more surprises in general.

Not hard at all. I haven't heard of any place turning down an application so far. They provide all the training you need, so don't worry about your lack of memory for any education or training you may or may not have.

...A word of warning. Some magic of the island is predictable; there are residents who can attest to getting cursed by the magic of the island in retaliation for...misusing the accommodations here, specifically the apartments. The curses are temporary, but still unpleasant.

The patrolmen here are diligent, but won't do much more than give people warnings for disturbing the peace as long as it stays non-violent. They're a respectable bunch, though.
