A Few Things...
so i just watched the all-star saturday stuff. it was alright, but i keep missing all the old stuff they used to do. it seems like the whole things doesnt take long at all anymore. i remember when they would have like 10 guys in the 3 point shootout and 8 guys in the dunk contest. i think that is one of the things that is really missing. nate robinson won tonight, but he only had to make 4 dunks. how stupid is that. i remember back in 97 when it was kobe, ray allen, michael finley and all those guys and they had 3 rounds when they had to make 3 different dunks. those were the old days. big ups to nate robinson for reppin seattle. i cant show much love to ray because that was his contest for the taking and he blew it... again. they say guys are better in game dunkers (amare), well ray allen is a better in game shooter, but i move on...
i have been messing with this idea in my head that i should start a monthly zine or something. i just think that i have a lot of stuff to say and im sure at least a few people would mind hearing about it. it would be mostly concentrated on music and stuff affecting me and my generation, but i also want to have a part in there were i go do something, like go to an event, and review it. another reason is i know a few people who have websites and stuff that they do review for and they are constantly getting free passes for stuff. there could be a big festival that they are going to, but instead of buying tickets the people send them 3 tickets so they can get some press or whatever. i just think it would be a really cool thing to do, but im not sure i could do it on my own.
charles barkley and dominique wilkins are up for the hall of fame this year, among others including dick vitale and soon to be sonics coach don nelson. i think if nique is snubbed again someone needs to have their voting rights taken away. the guy is one of the best players of all time. it was bad enough the NBA didnt mention him as one of the 50 greatest players 8 years ago, but now not to be in the hall, that is just stupid. i dont know if people are mad that he took his talents over to greece, or if they are just upset that for years all of their favorite players were posterized by him on countless occasions. be it that or the fact that he was a "rival" of MJs for a few years, but then again so were magic, bird, and isiah thomas. i think there is no excuse because the guy is one of the best players this league has seen.
moving on... this is really starting to get ridiculous. im not quite sure why this keeps happening to me or if there is any explanation at all. and why all of a sudden this year? is it because i constantly profess my love here on LJ and someone is reading it? i really dont see any explanation... so i look thought my mail on friday and i see a letter from the sonics. it looks kinda serious, so i open it up, and there is a letter from the front offices of the sonics and storm. i open up the letter to see what is says it is one of those "we regret to inform you" letters. im not sure what it can be, but i read on. apparently i signed up for some sort of halftime shootout contest, but they had to cancel the contest because the washington state government and liquor board wont allow it. at the end it says, please enjoy these complimentary tickets as compensation. so yea thats right i have 2 more tickets to a sonics game. they are for the game on tuesday the 28th against new orleans/ oklahoma city. im not sure how the seating works, but the seats are 20 rows back from the court either behind the sonics bench or nearly at half court. so yes, if you were bored enough to read all this and got here post your reason why you think i should take you and we will go from there. i little birdie told me that jim wanted to go, so ill give him first dibs.
and now on to something that has become a real interesting thing for me as of late. yea thats right its everybodys favorite part of my updates...
DREAMTIME WITH JOEY!!!
today we find our hero as a member of the fantastic four. ha ha yea i typed that right. i had a dream that i somehow made it into the fantastic 4 and i had to dismantle a bomb in a swimming pool. im not even sure if i had any powers. you want to know who i had to rescue? yea in a bit. ok so there was this pool with those pool lights all around the side of the pool. we are talking hundreds of them all lined up in a row all around the pool. they were all covered with this little plug thing. 4 of the lights were on, but you couldnt tell with the covers on. so i was in charge of picking which ones to take off, but if i got one that had a light shining behind it we had to get the light off as soon as possible or the bad guy would come and take us all out. so it took me hours to pick and choose which ones to pick. when it was all said and done you want to know who we were saving? who i went through all that trouble for? all those hours of planning and fighting and turmoil were all used to save the one, the only... WHOOPIE GOLDBERG!!! yea i know, but at least i go to spend all that time with jessica alba. the funny thing is i still havent even seen that movie. my life is just here for everyones amusement, but my own.
