notes/warnings. This is my take on recent filming for the show. I have no idea if that’s what they’re doing as far as filming goes, keep that in mind. This is my second fic! Kind of excited, even though it's short. :>

The T.V. was blasting from the living room and Jensen almost threw something at Jared from the kitchen.

“Could that be any louder?” Jensen hollered at him from behind the refrigerator.

“Yes,” Jared yelled back. Jensen rolled his eyes, trying to look for something edible to eat while they waited for the countdown to start. It was New Year’s Eve, and they were stuck back in Vancouver after being away for their Christmas break. Spending a long break with their families was too good to let go, but they had to fly up sooner or later. Supposedly filming was to start in the next few days, to film one or two of the remaining scripts while the strike continued, and Jared proposed they spend the New Year’s together. Jensen just said, ‘where else do you think I’d be?’, and that was that.

“When did you go grocery shopping, a year ago?” Jensen asked, still poking around the contents of the cold, and marginally empty, ‘fridge.

Jared looked over at him from the couch, smirking, “Probably. I’m a big boy, Jensen, I eat. What can I say?”

“Doesn’t mean you can’t get in a car and go to the goddamn grocery store every once in awhile,” Jensen grumbled, taking out some beers and grabbing the half empty bag of pretzels off the counter.

Jensen dumped the bag on the center table, settling down next to Jared and handing him a beer. “You know, if your mama was here, you’d be in for a beatin’. You’re 26 years old and the ‘fridge is empty. C’mon.”

Jared rolled his eyes at Jensen, “Whatever, I shop.”

Jensen snorted.

Dick Clark was talking about how another year was about to pass, how the next year was going to be one to remember, and the same old things he always said. Jensen was busy wondering how on earth that man stayed the same even after all these years, and was about to say something to Jared about it, when Jared spoke up first.

“Hey, Jensen.” Jensen turned to look at him, his mouth was almost on the rim of his bottle.

“Yeah?”

“You think this year was good? I mean, overall, what’d you think?”

“You mean what did I think about having to baby-sit you even after two years? I guess that was pretty fun.” Jared laughed a little at that.

“No, I mean, like, was it everything you wanted it to be?” Jared looked at him, but Jensen could tell there was something else behind those words. And maybe Jensen was drunk, but he saw something flicker amongst those dark eyes, something like hope, and heat.

“Yeah, man. It was.” Jensen shook off the urge to make Jared look at him like that again, and looked back at the T.V. “What about you?” Jensen asked.

He felt rather than saw Jared shrug lightly, “I guess. I mean, we still have our jobs, you know? Life is good.” Jensen nodded at that, taking another swig. Life really was good.

And then it started.

“10..!” Jared turned to look at Jensen, and for a minute Jensen felt way too hot, goosebumps running up and down his arms.

“9..!” He looked at Jared, that same expression on his face.

“8..!” Jensen turned to look back at New York City, lit and ready to burst into explosions and noise.

“7..!” Jared shifted, his thigh brushing heatedly against Jensen’s, and his breath caught in his throat.

“6..!” Jensen felt Jared lean over, his hand gripping on to Jensen’s knee, slipping slightly lower. Jensen wanted to look at him, his eyes starting to close.

“5..!” Jared’s breath was hot against his neck, his giant hand going around Jensen’s head, fingers rubbing his scalp; Jensen’s entire body heated up quickly, his senses going into hyper drive.

“4..!” Jensen had to look now, his head turning, staring straight into those green-brown eyes, their breaths mingling now. Whatever this was, was too much.

“3..!”

“Jared,” Jensen said, barely leaving his lips. Jared was closer now, his hair brushing against Jensen’s forehead.

“2..! ..1! Happy New Year!” The joyous shouts and noises filling the room setting off Jared, his mouth crashing against Jensen’s. Jensen was in a daze, Jared kissing him languidly, his mouth opening and his tongue meeting Jensen’s halfway. They kissed, panting every so often, their mouth’s bruised and oxygen running out. Jensen brought his hand up to frame Jared’s face, bringing their lips together softly, wanting to slow down but never wanting it to stop. Jared nipped at his lips, biting Jensen’s lower lip, then kissing it, and repeating it until Jensen moaned.

Jared finally pulled apart, and Jensen was still leaning in, both of them breathless.

“Happy New Year, Jen.”

Jensen nodded, pushing him back on the couch. He had a feeling it would be.

end.
