Yesterday afternoon, over the announcements, they said something about a representative from UF being at school today. Seeing as how that's my dream school, I went to guidance and asked Ms. Hardeman about it.
The appointment was at 9:30 this morning, so I struggled to get out of bed. There were only four other people there, besides myself, all of whom I knew. The lady asked us about a few things about ourselves and we filled out our applications. Before I left, she took a look at my transcripts and told me that she had good news for me. Evidently, if you're in the top 5% of your class at the end of your junior year, you're automatically accepted. Since I was number 3, she told me that I'm in. Already! Even before they've reviewed my application or before I've even submitted my essays. All I have to do is write two 300-400 word essays and fax them to their office in two weeks.
I'm so excited. I'm accepted into the college that I've always wanted to go to and I already have 75% of my tuition paid through Bright Futures. Now all I need is higher SAT or ACT scores to get a free ride for school. Even if I don't, I can get a loan for the other 25% that won't be covered.
I was born a gator and now if I decide to go, I'll actually be a true one!
That completely made my year. Maybe 2005 won't be so bad.
