Every living thing, human, animal, or plant, that I can shelter is as safe as I can make them tonight. The first couple of rainbands have gone through, and tropical storm winds are not far off. Hurricane winds will start moving in sometime tomorrow morning; our local forecaster is predicting landfall as a cat4 on Navarre beach - which is about 40-50 miles from here, as the crow flies. It's going to be a blustery, blustery night indeed.
We were outside watching the storm move in; black clouds swirling off to the southeast, ominous and threatening. Munchkin asked how I knew we'd be ok - and just then, on his words, a double rainbow appeared in the sky, complete, glittering, magnificent. The promise of the Gods from time immemorial, that the sun will return after the storm, no matter how bad. He stared at it in wonder, took my hand and said "Let's get inside Mom. We're going to be ok."
Out of the mouths of babes. See you on the flip side.
