I am so excited I could almost pee my pants. Ok, well no, I won't, but you get the picture. THAT is how excited I am.

As of the second week of June or so, Ian is going to be on dayshift for 3 1/2 months! OMGYAY!!!! Another guy at his work is taking 7 months off straight for a combination of holiday time and paternity leave, and Ian applied for that position. He didn't get it, they gave it to this asshole guy that Ian can't stand, but then they needed to backfill the asshole's position. They decided to split it between Ian and another guy, and Ian gets the first half. So he'll be on days from sometime in the middle of June-ish, until the end of September.

This is pretty much perfect timing for us. Right now, Ian gets all upset if I want to go to too many SCA events or other things on the weekend (without him, because he's really not much interested in the SCA), because that's really the only time we get together, but I love the SCA just as much as I love him, and I'm not willing to give it up. So about once every month or 2, we have an argument about the SCA. He did recently admit that he was probably being a bit too harsh about it, and is going to be attending more events with me to give it a chance, but in the meantime, this is a good compromise.

The other big plus to this, is that we're working on getting him back to school for a trade (probably electrician, though he mentioned the idea of welding on the weekend), but he hasn't been able to go to any of the information sessions, because they're all in the evening and he's at work. Now he'll be able to do that while he's on days, and hopefully get him back to school sometime in the 2010/2011 school year. The trade programs here have you go to school for 6 months, and then you are almost guaranteed a job when you come out, and then you go back to school once a year for a few weeks or something like that, but your employment continues during the school periods. And I think a trade would be a really good compromise for Ian, who loves how physical his job is, but is really smart and needs something that will engage him mentally too.

squee, ian
