passport day!

Today might be a Monday, but it's also a day I've been looking forward to for 2 weeks now - it's Passport Day! I'll be heading out to the Surrey office after work today to pick mine up, as I took the application in 2 weeks ago, and paid for pick-up service, which guarantees me it will be done for today. So this means I can now leave the country again! Of course, it will likely be sometime in June before we can squeeze in a trip to Bellingham, since the next 3 weekends are packed full.

Today is going to be busy as well. After work, I'm going to hop the train to go get my passport, since that will no doubt be faster than driving out there, especially considering the passport office is in the same building as the train station on the other end. Then once I get home I need to repot my tomatoes, water the garden, tidy up the condo because dakitten (who appears to have completely abandoned her LJ) is coming over for tea, and then I have archery practice at 5:30.

I'm actually contemplating going out to the archery range before 5:30, though. The reason they have scheduled practices is so that a senior target archery marshal can be there to record scores. Because I have a membership to the range in general (and a key to open the butt cages), I can actually go anytime I want, as long as they aren't hosting a tournament at the time. when I go during the official SCA practice, I have to shoot and retrieve arrows in concert with the other archers, and because I'm new and slow, I don't get very many arrows off. If I head out early, I can stand there and shoot off all 12 of my arrows at my own pace before I have to go get them. That way I'll get MUCH more practice in. Then once I can consistently hit the target, and have sped up a little bit, I'll start going during official practice so I can score Royal Rounds.

So I think I'll head out there around 4 or 4:30-ish. That way I'll either have a bit of overlap time with the official practice, or just be finishing as they're arriving, so I can get a little bit of help with my form if I need it, but otherwise have lots of shooting time.
