Fuckity fuck fuck.

I'm at the very end of my story. The climax has come and gone, and all that remains is the conclusion. The problem is that this story takes place amidst a rather staggeringly complicated set of circumstances, as per the world history/setting that I've concocted. I'm having some difficulty as the conclusion involves unveiling ( Read more... )

Hmmm. Ways of attacking the problem sideways...

Cackling Villains = No No Zone, but you know that.

Not knowing the context makes all of this a little bit of a stab in the dark, but I'll see what can be managed.

First, I'm guessing that from what you've said, the person who possesses The Facts is the bad guy. Hmm. Tricky.

I'd be tempted to narrow the focus of the tale so that you see a self-contained sliver of a larger story, meaning you can build on this later but without going overboard now.

This might mean trimming back the ending some, and actually ending it earlier. Hard to say.

Good thoughts. I actually just finished it: final total is 11,607 words for the rough draft. I'm going to try to get the formatting finished and I'll post it with a Friends lock on my LiveJournal hopefully before I go off tonight.

Any comments would be appreciated and shall be rewarded with copious treasure!

Addendum: I took your advice (and that of someone else, which was the same) and have excluded most of the details from the ending, though there is foreshadowing dropped throughout the story that will make it a teensy bit more understandable if the reader catches it.

I have snaffled a copy of the story and have begun making comments. I will get it back ASAP, but the howling Deadline Gnomes have hacksaws and are leering at me from under my desk.

Beware. My Deadline Gnomes have bigger hacksaws than yours, and they demand to know your thoughts on "The Herd."

Arr.

*Head bowed in shame.*

Currenly have a 5000 word 100% essay due and the core text has been recalled by the library.

When that struggling monstrosity has been kicked to death to the point where I don't fail, The Herd is next on the list.
