"Sometimes I feel that I've been mis-undertstood/ The rivers running deep right through my blood/ Your naked body's lying out on the ground/ You always get me up when I'm down..."
So, as everyone probably knows by now, Brian Singer is not doing the third X-men movie. Boo! I know...instead, they hired the director of the first Rush Hour....I hope he doesn't fuck it up. From all the buzz, it seems like he really can't. The script is rumored to top the other 2, and new characters join the cast. Lost's Maggie Grace (Boone's stepsister) plays someone named KittyPride...who I've never heard of. And Kelsey Grammar will play Beast. (and if I remember correctly, I think Juggernaut and Archangel will make an appearance...unless I'm confusing this with the game, haha) The third movie to round out the trilogy is set for a May 2006 release date...they want to finish it so they can begin the solo franchise for Wolverine, slate for release sometime in 2007...or so it's rumored....
X-Men Legends 2 is going to be released sometime in the fall. It's going to have online play thru X-box and PS2, and will allow characters to play as both good and bad guys. The storyline involves Apocalypse threatening the demise of everyone, so the X-men and their enemies must work together.
There's a new superhero fighting game coming out called Nemesis, or something like that. It sounds really cool. It's going to have a slew of Marvel characters, each with powers unique to the character. For instance, Spiderman will have the ability to climb walls during gameplay. The game-makers wanted to give the players a sense of realism with the heroes. Players can knock characters with super-human strength thru walls, for example...
Soul Calibur 3 hits shelves in Fall as well. The characters this time around can be customized with earned weapons and costumes, and blah, blah, blah! WHO CARES? IT'S SOUL CALIBUR 3!!!
The production is in the works for The Punisher 2. And the director of The Hulk will take on MTV's Aeon Flux, with Charlize Theron as the star. Spike TV is ordering up a a whole new made-for-television movie of Blade...no word whether Snipes will reprise the role as the daywalker...
As Rob Zombie preps release for his sequel to the crap film House of 1000 Corpses, rumors buzz about him being involved with a Ghostrider or Swamp Thing script...both of which he's a big fan of, and are still in early stages of development...(PS, Nicholas Cage is set to play Ghostrider, last I heard)
All this information came from a few articles I read during lunch from a co-worker's comic book magazine...
I read a few reviews for Fantastic Four, they're all saying it's very mediocre...but when don't they say that about most movies? They said the love affair between Alba and her on-screen bf is like daytime soap stuff, and that the character development is very poor. The only two they gave praise to were the guy that plays The Thing (from F/X's The Shield) and Chris Evans as The Human Torch, citing that both were the only actors to show any sort of emotion with their characters.... And yet, still, I want to see this movie. :O)
