i'm going to attempt a comeback.

the sad thing is, that my last post here was in June, but i hardly feel as though i have three months worth of information to fill you in on. let's find out.

i am still working the same job, but i am trying to get a better one. it would be doing the same thing, proofreading, but for the Texas State Legislature. yeah, state job. (read:BENEFITS!)Newsstand has angered me. when we were hired, it was on a probationary basis of four months (which is already a month more than any other place requires, i might add.) come the end of said period, they have not even come to a decision on performance standards on which they might review our performance for this period. so i want out. i feel deceived. and i need health insurance. Destiny says we are getting married if i get benefits. i think she is only half-joking.

oh yes, Destiny. the new girl in my life.

she likes to tap dance in pretentious hipster bars. we have a wonderful time together. and i like her very much. does that sound as cautious as it felt? i seldom allow my hopes to grow very high these days. but she is worth it.

in other news, i am trying to move away from leander towards actual austin, as close to downtown as i can get. it's nowhere near as expensive as california, i should be able to pull it off. gas is too expensive to live so far away. and the commute gets old. it's like living in folsom or rocklin, and doing everything else in sacramento. no fun. speaking of which, i have actually found myself experiencing a significant degree of homesickness lately. i have often been heard to say in recent times, "aw, they're from sacramento/san francisco/"any city in california, or within 50 miles of the border of california." maybe i need a visit home, and the fondness acquired via the absence will fade into oblivion.

next weekend is acl fest, which i am too broke to go see, but...
the good news is that my precious chan
is playing acl on friday, and then a show at stubb's bbq on sunday(which i get to see for free, thanks to the fabulous jen brown). this means she will be in austin all weekend! and since i have nothing better to do, (i.e. acl fest) i will be wandering the streets of austin in true stalker fashion, looking to make friends with the illustrious chan marshall. YAY!
