He finally understands what he’s been seeing in the angel’s gaze all this time, and knows it has been there since the beginning, though it’s almost too hard to believe. How had he not noticed this sooner? Dean has felt this for so long, has felt it every time he hears his name spoken in that rough voice, every time he turns and finds the angel standing there, every gentle, comforting touch he offers, though sparing, but somehow he’s only just realised, only just seen it for what it is.
