Stuff & Snow-woes

I swear I’ll get a picture of those Barbie Pocket Hoops… and the shako I’m just finishing up for Chris to wear to the World Steam Expo. He saw my photo of VonGrelle and some of the IAPS crew at last year’s event, and her hat, then immediately wanted one. Since it’s just a simple costume piece, I made it roughly how she made hers (she showed it at the hat seminar some of the IAPS girls put on), just with cardboard, duct tape, and craft felt. I wasn’t going to kill my hands with buckram, layers of felt and padding and millinery wire for something he’d wear once or twice.

FYI, the girl who plays VonGrelle has a great blog about Multiculturalism in Steampunk. It’s a great resource for adding interest to your Steampunk kit when you’ve gotten tired of brown with goggles.

I also had someone comment on one of my Costume Word of the Week pages with a link to her blog, An Historical Lady. OMG I want some of her outfits. I really just need to sew them. I have the fabric…just need time without someone *coughCJcough* who wants to help.

Whining about my sucky day below the cut…

I shoveled snow 3 times within 12 hours and the sidewalks still aren’t clear. Then the Revenge (2002 Ford Taurus) got stuck in the snow while Chris went to the dentist of fail, and when he came back to it with his friend to free it, the city had already towed it, and then when he called they didn’t process it yet, but they’d call him, and they never did and when he called back, they had closed early. And I also didn’t end up going out and helping Mom with the cleaning job because we were afraid of our cars getting stuck too. Then to top it all off, I’m having trouble with my upper airways. I had to use my inhaler, and the first one I found was empty. Luckily I have 2 more. I just REALLY hate how jittery and agitated it makes me. (Can you tell from the quick rambling?) ARGH!
