I'm scared of the corners of my room. The piles of crap that served as buffer zones are slowly dwindling. Neutrality between myself and various unspeakable crawly things is being compromised. But the plan is to have my room completely stripped by my birthday, so I can spend at least part of that day dusting and vacuuming. Not something one would normally think to do on their b-day, but... it's my 18th and I kinda want to do some symbolic life-cleaning. Hence, all the pics and posters and hangings on my walls are coming down so I can do something totally different. What, I don't know. Burn that bridge when I come to it.
One of the cats (Frosty) had had pretty rank breath for a long while and started losing weight, so he got treated to a visit to the vet which resulted in surgery for some nasty gum disease. Lots of pulled teeth. He's very sad now. He used to never come in my room, but he's been under my bed pretty much since he got home a couple days ago. We pampered him for a little while, bringing him his soft food in his hideout under my bed and all, but I've kicked him out and closed my door tonight. The theory of sickness in this household follows pretty much thus: You get pampered. And then you don't. Get over it.
I finished the first of the 100 stories for fanfic100. OMG progress! I'm not going to do the math on how long this challenge will take if I carry on at this rate. It's called "The Lady of Situations" and I will post it tomorrow (er, today) when I'm more awake.
Also, I've cut and twisted several hundred separate wire links for my chainmail-making project. They're 1/2" in diameter. Shoot me now.
Two totally awesome early b-day pressies -- Rain gave me a gorgeous necklace that says "inshallah" in honor of my newfound curiosity (academic at this point) about world religions, and Llama gave me T.E. Lawrence's Seven Pillars of Wisdom (it's so much longer than I'd thought! squeee! ...I'm sad).
And on a final note, I love being part of fandoms that are just... beyond nerdy. A debate on the specifics of Linking Books is going on over at
myst_library and someone just illustrated an example about world-building using Euclidean geometry vs. fractal geometry.
Nerds. Gotta love 'em.
