whee!

Dad's back from Seattle! WHEE! He took a week's vacation, but since I had school and Mom had Con exhaustion and an exploding muscle in her side, we stayed home. Was muchly jealous of all the phone calls from the top of the flying saucer, etc etc. Oh, and he got nice cool/cold weather for a week. Damn him.

But WHEE! He's back! I'm excited! It feels so weird whenever one of my parents is gone. It's a relief to have him home, even though I hadn't realized it felt like a burden when he was gone.

He spent lots of time in the International Market, especially the Japanese part, and I NOW HAVE VOLUMES 7-11 OF TRIGUN MAXIMUM. I am going to print out SO MANY TONS OF SUMIRE'S TRANSLATIONS this weekend so that I can really read them word-for-word, although I already know what's going on thanks to Tiggy. Dad also got me a Japanese grammar-by-manga textbook type thing, and a sort of scholarly essay book called "Dreamland Japan." I'm all but drooling all over the keyboard waiting to get into them. I'm such a dork.

And he also thought it would be neat to get me some completely random manga and see what would happen, so he got the first volume of something called "Emblem of Roto." I've never heard of it. Anyone else have a clue or a review to share? Translations (though I know that's not likely)? Mostly I'm seeing a short guy riding a pterodactyl in the first few pages, which is certainly... interesting.

Anyway, I just thought I'd vent and squee and bounce a bit on here, and now I'm going to go crawl in bed with my new books and let my inner linguist take over.
squee!
