I really, really, really love this. I love the concept of them going full circle and just heading off, the two of them. You've captured their personalities and the dynamic between them perfectly. I just, argh, I love this! If the actual end of the comic is half as good as this it will be amazing.

Awesome writing. This is a great idea, and you made it work with their personalities and the storyline. There's a lot of work out there for Apollo and Midnighter to do, a daughter for them to find--she might not need rescuing, but they are parents, and parents are expected to miss the hell out of their missing children--and like you said, they don't fit in on teams.

As far as the books go, you're right, there was further room for them to fall. I still haven't given up hope of seeing the characters again, but I like the idea of them taking a break and maybe coming back in mini-series with a writer who knows how to handle them.

In the meantime, we fans need fic to tide us over, so I was glad to read you've got more coming. :)

Beautifully done, wonderfully poignant. An excellent homage to our favorite couple. Thanks for sharing.

Aw, this is brilliant - beautifully written and moving and truthful and SO much the kind of thing I needed to read since we heard about Wildstorm's demise. Closure and affirmation, and (I'm sure) a profoundly more satisfying coda than there'll be room for them to have in the actual comic before it ends. I really love that rueful note of "we're getting old, aren't we" - I've always liked the fact that these two aren't starry-eyed kids or idealistic young men but rather battered warhorses, acting like an old married couple rather than new lovers right from their first appearance in Stormwatch (and I adored the way Simon Coleby drew them both kind of wolfish and raggedy). Thanks so much for posting this.

Oh! I just realised it was you who wrote that wonderful long piece set just before DnA's issue #1. I absolutely loved that story, I meant to comment on it at the time; I thought it fitted so perfectly with the continuity and texture of Abnett and Lanning's writing that it felt like canon. There seems to be very little World's End ( ... )
