Working From Home

Advantages to Working From Home:
  • No morning commute.
  • I can't be late, in fact I'm pretty much always early.
  • I can lounge around in my pj's and take conference calls.
  • I have an entire kitchen at my disposal.
  • Clients can't call me non-stop.
  • I don't have to hear arguments about politics and why the entire country is going to hell in a hand basket.
  • No overhead pages.

Disadtages to Working From Home:
  • I have an entire kitchen at my disposal.
  • I have to use my cell phone to make calls.
  • It's harder to track people down.
  • No ancillary conversations.
  • The wireless at the house drops constantly.
  • I stay locked in my apartment all day, without any knowledge of the world around me.
  • Any construction going on is heard through my paper-thin walls/windows, thus making it very hard to have any sort of conference call.

Yes, I'm working from home today. A service guy is getting sent to the house to look at my leaky closet ceiling. I'm worried because it stopped leaking. I mean, it's good that it stopped leaking, but how can I prove it was happening? Who knows how long it'll be before it leaks the next time. It's the first time in 3 years that it's leaked, and we've had some crazy-heavy rain in Ohio in those three years. We've also had inches of snow, which would have sat on the roof for weeks before melting. Hopefully he believes me.

Still no word from the landlord about the letter. I really think the prompt phone call is coincidence and has nothing to do with the letter. We'll see if anything happens. I'm going to look at an apartment and a house Wednesday evening. I reviewed my lease agreement, and I need to give 30 days notice before moving. So realistically December 31st is the first-last day I could be out of this apartment. Too many decisions.
